Scotland’s border control post

Animals entering the UK go through a Border Control Post (BCP) if they do not qualify for entry under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) or if they fall under commercial import regulations. Our specialists will guide you through the process. Extrordinair is the only approved independent border inspection post for small animals and conservation birds in Scotland.

Entry by BCP per species

The Edinburgh Airport Border Control Post is fully authorised to accept and inspect the species below. If the animal is a cat, dog, or ferret, you will need to complete an Annex I GB Health (GBHC640) Certificate before importation. If your pet is travelling within 5 days of your travel then please visit our Animal Receiving Centre page for further information. For all other species, please contact our team, and we will assist you in obtaining the correct paperwork for a smooth entry into the UK.

Fully authorised species
  • Amphibians
  • Pet Birds
  • Cats
  • Dogs
  • Ferrets
  • Lagomorphs
  • Reptiles
  • Rodents
  • Fish (not for human consumption)
