Extrordinair operates the Edinburgh Airport Animal Receiving Centre (ARC), providing the entry process for pets and animals arriving in Scotland. Approved by APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) and DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), we ensure a smooth transition through customs and veterinary checks.

What does the Animal Receiving Centre do?
• Airlines notify Edinburgh’s ARC at least 24 hours before arrival to reserve accommodation for your pet.
• Veterinary paperwork and microchip checks are completed.
• Customs documentation is processed for all pets arriving into Edinburgh
• Once all checks are cleared, pets are customs released and reunited with their owners within three hours of arrival.

What you need to arrange before arrival
To prevent delays, please arrange the following before arrival to ensure compliance:
- Send EU Pet Passport or GB Pet Health Certificate
- Send the Rabies certificate (and blood test certification, if required)
- Send the details of your travel arrangements
Important
To comply with UK Pet Travel Scheme regulations, you must travel within five days of your pet. If you are not travelling within five days of your pet, don’t worry – Extrordinair also operates the Border Control Post for animals at Edinburgh Airport.
